One quarter…

That’s not so much these days. In Euros, it’s about 17 cents, i think. But that’s neither here nor there. What about a quarter slice? Again, it depends on the pie.  Pesto and garlic, please. No, I’m talking about one-quarter of one’s life.

I have lived one-quarter of my life in Germany. 10 years. One complete decade. Jesus Christ, that’s nuts.

What do I have to show for it? A beautiful wife, a happy, healthy baby boy and a decent grasp of the German language. More life experience that many people I know. Life in a country with socialized medicine, where I don’t need to worry about if Im sick or need an operation on my knee. (Again…)

I an grateful for all these things and more, but I wont bore everyone with the details. This isn’t supposed to be a hallmark, feel-good, lovey-dovey website. I have too much energy and rage for that right now. I just needed to express my thanks to my wife, friends and everyone in general for what I have and who I am.

PS : More bike nonsense to come as it happens. Im terrible about race reports, but there’s a good one in the works.

OFF!

Seriously, Keith Morris is one of my favorite singers of all time. Makes me want to skate. Period.

Video as well. (OFF! : Compared to what) Both from their Room 205 sessions. I can’t wait to see these guys.

August

Yeah, it’s August and I’m confused as how to continue. Not only what my goal is for this here bleargh, but also in real life. Everything goes so quickly sometimes, (when I’m home on the weekends) and yet so un-GODLY slowly (work) at other times.
All in all I will commit to three designs on my other site, and I’d like to see what you all think of them. If I get enough positive feedback or requests for one (or two, or all…) I’ll put them into production and they’ll be available by Fall ’11. Xmas at the latest.

(Days later…)

So I was supposed to ride in Oberammergau. Didn’t happen. The following week I was a stand-in for A.M. in the Kulsheim 12-hour race. I got in 4 laps and crashed. That’s when I decided to call it a day. I showered, got my scrapes loked at and headed to the shade of the beer tent.

Ahh, glorious weizen, how you make a sore knee (and elbow, and hip, and…and…and…) better. Wunnspeed joined me shortly thereafter and we watched the mases go round and round; cheering on those we knew and leering at those we didn’t. There were oh-so-many ‘THOSE guys are FAST!’ and ‘Those GIRLS are HOT AND FAST!’ comments. It was a good day to ride, and a better one to watch.

In the end we didn’t DFL, and we didn’t win, but it was a good time regardless. Wunspeed conquered his demons and I got in 40km and about 1000 meters of climbing in. Not too shabby for a fat bum like myself.

Helles, the fuel of cham-peens

Let’s just call it ‘carbo-loading’.
